Indigenous communities in Guam, particularly the Chamorro people, are directly impacted by these threats. Many community leaders and activists are working tirelessly to preserve cultural practices and protect sacred sites, but they often lack the legal tools necessary to secure these assets against encroachment and exploitation. The absence of legal recognition and support for indigenous rights exacerbates their struggle to maintain control over their cultural heritage.
